Assalamu Alaikum,

I am thrilled to share that I will be climbing the iconic O2 Arena to raise funds for the people of Gaza. This climb is not just a personal challenge but a heartfelt effort to provide much-needed support to a community in crisis.

Gaza is facing a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented proportions. Basic necessities that many of us take for granted—clean water, electricity, healthcare, and education—are luxuries in Gaza. The blockade has severely restricted access to these essential resources, creating a daily struggle for survival for over two million people.

Healthcare facilities are overwhelmed and under-resourced, struggling to provide care with limited supplies and infrastructure. Schools operate in challenging conditions, with children eager to learn but often lacking the materials and safe environments they need to thrive. The economic situation is dire, with unemployment rates soaring and families finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity” (Tirmidhi). This Hadith beautifully encapsulates the essence of Sadaqah—our acts of charity provide comfort and protection, both in this life and the Hereafter.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When International Aid Charity UK receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid.
