Clean Water for Pakistan: Every Drop Counts
Pakistan is one of the most water-stressed countries in the world. Only around a third of the population has access to safely managed drinking water, and an estimated 20 million people have no access to safe water at all. Contaminated water is linked to a huge share of the illness burden in the country, diarrhoeal disease alone sickens tens of millions of children every year, and it's one of the leading reasons children miss school.
It isn't just a health problem. In communities without a working pump nearby, it's usually women and girls who carry the burden — sometimes walking for hours a day just to bring water home. That's time not spent in school, not spent earning an income, not spent resting. A single hand pump installed in the right place can lift that burden for an entire community, not just for a season, but for years.
