Jummah is the day Muslims gather for prayer, when hearts soften and duas are answered. The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he was made to enter Paradise." (Sahih Muslim 854)
Islam places importance on both Sadaqah and Zakat. Zakat is an obligation that purifies wealth, Sadaqah is a free flowing act of generosity that purifies the heart. Both carry enormous reward on any day, and many scholars hold that this reward is magnified further when given on a Jummah. The Prophet ﷺ said, "The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those done most consistently, even if they are small." Frequently Asked Questions About Dhul Hijjah
Can I use this for Zakat as well as Sadaqah?
Yes. You can choose whether your Jummah Giving is intended as Sadaqah or Zakat when you set it up. If it's Zakat, we'll make sure it's directed in line with the eligible categories. (need to make sure they don’t show sadaqah or zakat when clicking on one that isn’t eligible for the other)
Can I change my amount or cause later?
Yes, anytime. You can increase or decrease your weekly amount, switch to a different fund, or move to "Where Most Needed" whenever you like. There's no minimum commitment period.
Can I pause or cancel my Jummah Giving?
Yes. You're in full control. Pause it for a few weeks or cancel it altogether, whatever suits you, with no fees and no questions asked.
What happens if a payment fails?
If a Friday payment doesn't go through, for example due to insufficient funds, we'll simply try again the following week. Your giving isn't cancelled, and you won't be charged twice to make up the difference.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. Payments are collected by Direct Debit and protected under the Direct Debit Guarantee, so your payment is covered if anything ever goes wrong.
What's the minimum I can give?
You can start your Jummah Giving from as little as £3 a week.
Will I get a receipt for my donations?
Yes, you'll receive confirmation of each payment, and a summary of your giving is available at any time through your account.
Can I claim Gift Aid on my Jummah Giving?
If you're a UK taxpayer, yes. Just tick the Gift Aid box when you set up your giving, and we'll claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give, at no extra cost to you.
Where exactly does my money go?
You choose: Food, Water, Orphan, Widows, or Emergency Fund, or you can let us direct it to wherever the need is greatest that week. You can track how your fund is being used through our updates and impact reports.
Is Jummah Giving only for Fridays?
Yes, that's the idea. Your donation is collected every Friday (Jummah), so your giving lines up with the day itself. If you'd prefer a different frequency, our standard regular giving options are also available.
Is my donation 100%?
Yes, when you tick the Gift Aid box. We keep our admin costs to an absolute minimum, in the single digits, and Gift Aid is what allows us to cover them. That means once Gift Aid is added, every penny of your donation goes straight to the cause you've chosen, with nothing taken out for running costs.
