Our Work with Water Projects
Access to clean water should never be a privilege. Your support can help deliver safe water to regions, communities & families facing poverty and hardship, transforming lives and creating a legacy of Sadaqah Jariyah for years to come.
Build Lasting Change with Clean Water
Across the world, millions of families are living without safe drinking water. Children walk long distances, parents rely on unsafe sources, and communities face illness simply because clean water is out of reach.
Today, 1 in 4 people globally still lack access to safely managed drinking water, while 106 million people drink directly from rivers, lakes and other surface water sources.
At IAC UK, we are working to provide clean, safe and reliable water to vulnerable communities, helping families drink safely, maintain hygiene and live with dignity.
Why Clean Water Matters
Water is life. It protects health, supports families, restores dignity and gives communities the chance to survive and grow.
When clean water is not available, families are exposed to disease, children miss school, and women and young people often carry the burden of collecting water from unsafe or distant sources.
Your donation can help provide:
Clean drinking water
Water trucking in emergency areas
Community water access
Support for vulnerable families
Long-term Sadaqah Jariyah impact
An Act of Sadaqah Jariyah
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The best charity is giving water to drink.”
Sunan Ibn Majah
When Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ which charity was best, he replied: "Water." Sa'd went on to dig a well for his community, dedicating its reward to his late mother. (Sunan Abu Dawud)
Providing water is among the most rewarding forms of Sadaqah Jariyah, an ongoing charity whose benefit and reward continue for as long as the water serves the community. Donations may be made in your own name or dedicated to a loved one.
The Water Crisis in Pakistan
Pakistan faces some of the most serious water challenges in the region. Frequent floods, droughts and earthquakes, combined with the effects of climate change and rapid population growth, leave millions of people without a safe and reliable water supply.
• Around 55 per cent of Pakistan's population lacks access to safely managed drinking water.
• An estimated 70 per cent of households in Pakistan drink bacterially contaminated water.
• The 2025 monsoon floods affected more than 6.9 million people. Around 3 million were forced from their homes, and more than 1,000 people lost their lives, including 275 children.
• Following the 2025 floods, access to safe drinking water remained limited in the worst-affected districts of Punjab, as many water sources were damaged or contaminated, leaving communities reliant on unsafe alternatives.
• Six months after the 2022 floods, more than 10 million people in flood-affected areas were still without safe drinking water.
Why Water
Why a Water Appeal Is Needed
Access to safe drinking water is a fundamental human need and a recognised human right. Yet for billions of people worldwide, it remains out of reach. In many communities, there is no reliable water source nearby, and families, most often women and children, travel long distances each day to collect water. In others, water is available but is contaminated, polluted or otherwise unsafe to drink. Without an alternative, families continue to rely on it, exposing themselves to serious and often fatal disease. The absence of safe water affects every aspect of daily life, including health, education, food security and livelihoods.
Access to Water Is Not Access to Safe Water
The water crisis is often understood as a complete absence of water. In reality, many communities have water available to them, but it is unsafe to drink. Open wells can become contaminated by animal waste, sewage and floodwater, while rivers and ponds are frequently shared with livestock. Water that appears clear may still carry harmful bacteria and parasites. Children are particularly vulnerable, as waterborne illnesses such as diarrhoea can quickly become life-threatening. Safely managed drinking water is water that is free from contamination, located close to the home and available when needed. This is the standard our water projects work towards.
Our Water Projects
Each community requires a solution suited to its circumstances. Every project is selected according to local need, the terrain and the depth of the water table, ensuring that each installation provides a safe and lasting water supply.
The Impact of Clean Water
A single water point can transform an entire community. Access to safe water reduces the spread of disease and improves the health of children and families. Time previously spent collecting water can be used for education, work and caring for family members, with particular benefits for women and girls. Reliable water also supports agriculture and livestock, strengthening food security and livelihoods. As wells and pumps continue to serve communities for many years, the benefit of each donation extends well beyond the initial installation.
